Happy Birthday Zoey

Last year every Thursday as I drove Zoey to viola we would listen to Zoey's favorite Taylor Swift song, "Never Grow Up" over and over. Unlike some kids who can't wait to grow up, Zoey revels in childhood. Despite her friends teasing, she wears twirly skirts to school; she spends hours playing with her dolls and some of her closest friends are 8-year-old girls. Still growing up is inevitable, in two weeks she will start middle school--middle school can you believe it? But before then to celebrate her birthday we are taking a girl's trip to LA where we will visit the American Girl doll store and see Taylor Swift in concert. Growing up is inevitable but we are going to make the most of childhood.

Beautiful, sweet Zoey. I loved the slideshow. You guys have really been able to capture her personality in photos. The song was very fitting, though it made me sad. :(

I think there is something about slideshows of children growing up through the years that is just irresistably beautiful and sad and wistful. I can't believe she is going to middle school! The week we spent with her, she was just a little girl in kindergarten. Happy birthday, Zoey!

She looks so grown up now! I can't believe its been 5 years now since we moved away. But looking at the kids, they've all changed so much. Happy Birthday, Zoey!

Happy Birthday Zoey!
I adore you!
You are so kind, good-hearted and beautiful. You remind me of your namesake, Grandma Zoe, who loves you forever.
With love,
Grandpa Ken

What a sweet, sweet slideshow! I was the same way - when I turned thirteen I still insisted that I was 12 and 5/4 because I didn't want to be a teenager. I think Zoey will always have that sweet childlike innocence and kindness. She is such a special girl.
