My Garden, My Life

This is my life--overgrown, full of weeds a little bit wilty from lack of water (in this metaphor I'm not sure if water represents time with my husband, sleep or free time all of which are lacking) but still bearing lots and lots of sweet fruit.

I thought I'd do another two truths and a lie.

1. We celebrated Bastille Day (July 14th) by making eclairs

2. We celebrated my parents 42nd anniversary (July 16th) by making a cake shaped like the number 42.

3. We celebrated Pioneer Day (July 24th) by making pioneer bonnets and aprons.

The answer with great pictures is coming soon. Ruth

I had one of the éclairs, and I witnessed sewing on an apron for pioneer day, but I have neither seen nor heard of this cake...

Seriously- you celebrated a holiday for those Cheese Eating Surrender Monkeys? Adam and I are both shocked and appalled. I'm uncertain if our friendship can continue!

If Mollie wasn't so well informed, I would have guessed that you made the 42 cake (although now that I think about it, I think your parents have been married longer than 42 years). My other thought is that I cannot believe you don't already have a set of aprons for each of your girls and all of their friends.

So- this one is a little harder I must say.

Okay, I'm guessing the second, but really I could see the Mitchells doing all of the above. You guys are fabulous!

The 42 must be a lie... can't wait to see pics of the rest! I hope you weren't offended by my recent blog...

One year we overwatered our tomatoes and got huge green bushes but no tomatoes. We learned the plants need a little stress to set fruit.

Lara, How can anyone have anything against the Mother country of eclairs, cream puffs and yogurt--not to mention baguettes. Michelle, Was there anything to offend in your blog? Of course not. I'm just wary of commenting on your blog because I'm afraid of shattering the myth of your wise, sensitive sister by leaving a moronic comment. So I wait till I have a brilliant comment--which I rarely do and thus say nothing.
Becky, I think your right about stress helping produce fruit with plants and people, but I wish it wasn't so. Ruth

Ruth--I think your garden looks amazing. I can't wait for next summer when we will have a yard and be in one place for the entire growing season! It's been too long. . .

I saw a post about the eclairs on someone else's blog already and it sounds like the aprons are a real thing too so I'll have to say the cake must be the myth--but I do think that you are certainly capable of making a 42 for a cake :)

I'll just say that that garden is a beautiful way for a life to look. Also, I'll go with the 42 cake too.
