Pictures for Daddy

Bill's been out of town for nearly a week now and we sure are missing him. I bet he is missing us too. So I took some photos for him. This is what everyone in our house was up to at about 4:36 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon.

Lizzy just home from school snarfs a Samoa.

John is building a private island for the worm he and his friend Sage discovered. After taking this picture, I stood for awhile looking at the mess and wondered what a good mom should do when her son plays in the mud. I like to believe I'm allowing him to fulfill a deep inner need, but maybe I'm just letting him run wild.

Zoey is doing her homework. Zoey takes school seriously. After I took this photo, she informed me that she had already started on tomorrow's homework.

I am folding laundry.

Will is sleeping. I do know exactly what a good mom does when she finds her two-year-old sleeping. Stroke his hair, listen to his breathing, stand in the still room, savor the moment.

I like this. It's nice to see a normal real life - this is exactly what is going on sort of post.
Nice snack choice, Lizzy.
How nice of John to do all that work for a worm. You are so nice to let him play in not just dirt, but full on mud. I'm not so good at that because I think of the work it makes for me, so you score good mom points here.
Zoey - so ambitious!
And mom points again for your interaction with Will. I love looking at my boys while they sleep. Zeke took a rare nap today (on his own) and I had to stop and take a picture in addition to some pets on his hair.

ooh, I LOVE this post. And you know I'll probably copy you at some point. I am convinced that playing in the mud is a deep need for boys(and girls!).

Definitely a good mom for the mud thing! And such a fun thing to get a glimpse into everyday life of a friend:)

Thank you for sharing your family. I can't believe how big everyone is! Maybe next time Clint is gone, I'll steal your idea.

What a sweet, sweet post.

I hear you on the mud thing. Last summer we were at a park, and eventually Joseph and Caleb ended up playing in this irrigation ditch/stream sort of thing along the edge, and I just let them. And I thought, "Does this mean I'm a good mom, or a bad mom?"

My sister-in-law let my three nephews and their cousins play in the muddy canal by their house. They were more mud than boy by the time they'd finished.

They'll probably never forget the fun time they had.

Oh, I love this post! Your kids are more darling every day! Goodness we miss you guys! Loved seeing everyone (including a DARLING picture of you Ruth)! Hope the next few days go very quickly.

Oh, and don't believe everything Bill told you about us. We (okay, I mean me) are super calm and would never say or do half of the things he will claim I did. Just preparing you. You know how Bill is about exaggeration.

Great photos. Hope Bill comes home soon. We got the freak March blizzard that happens every year on our trip to Utah, so the weather should be good for your visit.

These are some of the best pictures I've seen on a Blog--everyday stuff that makes me feel as if I were there with you. Of course, my favorite is John--just because it's everything I know to be the best kind of play/work in early childhood. This shows: you are a great mom and he is a creative and busy boy.

Hey there Ruth! I wonder if my family could visit you for a 4:36 photo shoot in July? We'll be visiting the temple and would love to spend an afternoon with your wonderful family. Call or email - I'd love to get in touch with you!
