2009 Slideshow

For the past four years I've made a slide show to watch New Year's Eve. It's hard to sum up a year in a hundred or so photos and a song but I try. I actually really enjoy the process, it's amazing to see how much happens in a year, especially this year. A few things to note: the tree is the Jacaranda tree we planted on my mom's birthday there's a great story behind it which I never wrote about but my sister did in her blog.

The big white flowers are dragon fruit blossoms. They bloom at night and the blossom only lasts a day. The ones in the photo bloomed the night of my mom's birthday. The jets are the blue angels which fly by our house for an airshow each Oct. John and Zoey are running to school. This was the first day of school but they run nearly every day. Some time in Dec. Will decided he was King Arthur so I made him a crown. As you can see my back healed enough to fly to Utah for Christmas. Bill and I even got away for a night to celebrate our 14th anniversary. My back continues to get better even if it's not as fast as I'd like. I'm hoping 2010 will be a year of healing.

I'm just glad the slideshow didn't automatically turn on. I love it; but I can't imagine being strong enough to watch it again.

Oh my! So many beautiful photos. Love the photos of the fruit and sky, so many great shots of your kids, very sweet photos of your mom, you look so strong in your race photo and so very, very beautiful in the anniversary photo with Bill. Congratulations on 14 years and all the best for 2010.

Ruth, that is a beatiful collection of your year--I'm so sad that we don't live closer anymore and don't get to share these memories in person.

And BTW, I think your whole family have the best smiles--it just makes me smile to see them.

That was so beautiful. It made me cry but left me inspired at the same time. Thanks for sharing that and all of the other things your write on your blog! It is one of my favorites.

Beautiful family, beautiful pictures, thank you so much for sharing. What an amazing year you guys have had. It made me sad that I wasn't there for any of it... Hopefully that will change this year with our trip the end of March!

That was absolutely beautiful. I'm not sure what came over me, but I cried through the whole thing.

I think it is because I can't imagine the year you have been though. And I miss you so very much sweet friend. I can't even describe the homesickness I felt while I was watching it. I've never experienced the feeling of leaving a part of your heart somewhere.

Thanks Ruth. I miss you.

That was beautiful, Ruth. It made me cry. Now I have to go explain to my little John that Mommy is not hurt...
